General Description:
Ensures proper route marshal and signage coverage for your section of the route.
Specific Duties:
- Attend committee meetings as required.
- Understand and be able to communicate to others about MS.
- Have an extensive knowledge of the following:
- Your portion of the route.
- The signs required along the route to ensure proper coverage.
- The number of required Route Marshals and their locations.
- The tear down and sweep procedures.
- The role of the support vans, the Motorcycle Groups and St.John Ambulance.
- Arrange to either drop-off and pick up the Route Marshals in your section or have them arrange their own transportation.
- Check on Route Marshals while they are out on the route to ensure their safety (i.e. warm enough, need food and/or water).
- Ensure that Route Marshals receive lunch upon their return back to site. (Make Food Supervisor aware of approximate return time and number of route marshals requiring lunch so that lunches are saved for them).
- Help coordinate the required number of volunteers for the day of the event.
- Train your volunteers.
- Ensure that your volunteers have checked in at the Volunteer Booth to fill out the Volunteer Information Form, and receive their Volunteer Gift.
- Help recruit participants/teams.
- Report any problems or concerns to the Rest Stop Supervisor/Walk coordinator.
Time Commitment:
3-4 meetings before the event (1-2 hours each) and one post-event wrap-up/evaluation meeting. Meeting times, dates, and location are at the discretion of the committee.
